hpim1126.JPGhpim1124.JPGhpim1125.JPGhpim1128.JPGhpim1133.JPGhpim1134.JPGhpim1141.JPGElectric final and hvac final complete, plumbing final Tuesday after counters are installed. Final grading done by tomorrow…winding down the home stretch! (literally). We finished the hardwoods completely, so all the flooring is done on the first floor except for my closet, which gets carpet. Pictures are back porch, kitchen looking towards the front of the house, kitchen looking east, master bedroom, master tub area, laundry room looking into bathroom, study. The paint colors are off in the photos due to the flash…and everything is covered in saw dust from the floors, but a little elbow grease and trim, and we will be in.

Only us…

January 18th, 2008

100_3705.jpg100_37061.jpgAll was good. Then I received a phone call from my husband saying that one of the hvac units was now laying in the middle of 95 northbound, and he was very far away, still working. The unit had fallen out of the trailer that was delivering them to our house. I arrived and the unit was over straddling the shoulder and slow lane. I called 911 and reported it. They said a unit would be right out. Right before my eyes, our unit (which was still in the box, in one piece, and would have been usuable) was hit by a tratcor trailer. This flipped it into oncoming traffic. Cars were slamming on their brakes, and everyone was managing to avoid the box. I was panicking at this point, waiting for the police. Then a car went out of control trying to avoid the unit, and crashed into the concrete of the bridge, spinning, and hitting again. I freaked out. Normally I am good in these situations but this time I was not. I started crying I was so scared someone got hurt. It seemed like forever before the police arrived. Everyone in the car was ok. The police were very kind. Our unit was very crumpled.  My husband missed all the action. He pulled up when the tow truck was pulling out

I tell ya..always an adventure.

100_3437.jpg100_3438.jpg100_3434.jpg100_3435.jpgThe exterior is almost compete (not including siding). Almost all of the doors and windows are in. The framers have to fix a few things and then they are done!

Making progress

August 25th, 2007

100_3393.jpg100_3400.jpgWe are making progress. The framing is nearly complete. They delivered shingles and windows today. All that installation can begin before the framing is complete. They still have the steps on the porches and interior and the columns to install, a few finishing touches, and the framing is complete! We have an active electric service now also. Rough plumbing, hvac, and electric start Monday. Next week will be busy!

And more framing…

August 3rd, 2007

100_3177.jpgIt seems as if the framing is dragging on…our framer is definately taking longer than I expected. It has been very hot and they are knocking off at noon…
